Prickly pear oil in daily care: How to incorporate it into your routine

They call it the rarest oil in the world – prickly pear oil is winning the hearts of women worldwide with its power and gentleness at the same time. It is rich in antioxidants, vitamins E and K and thanks to its composition, it can hydrate, regenerate, and protect the skin from premature aging. But how should you use it correctly in your daily routine to get the most out of it?

Morning: Light protection and hydration

Prickly pear oil is also perfect for morning use – despite being an oil, its texture is light and absorbs quickly.

How to do it:

  • Cleanse your skin with a gentle cleansing gel or micellar water

  • Apply a hydrosol or toner

  • While your skin is still damp, apply 2-3 drops of prickly pear oil

  • Gently massage into the skin

  • After a moment (1-2 minutes), you can apply SPF or makeup

💡 Tip: If you have oilier skin, you can mix the oil with a drop of aloe vera gel – this will create a lightweight serum that won't leave an oily residue.

Evening: Nourishment and regeneration

Evening is the best time for nourishing the skin – and this is where prickly pear oil excels.

Evening ritual:

  • Thoroughly remove makeup and impurities (ideally with double cleansing: oil + cleansing gel)

  • Use a toner or essence

  • Apply a serum (e.g., with hyaluronic acid) – optional

  • Apply 3-4 drops of prickly pear oil and massage into the skin

  • For very dry skin, you can add a night cream (but it's not necessary)

💡 Tip: The oil works wonderfully around the eyes – just gently tap 1 drop into the area under your eyes.

What to combine with – and what to avoid?

Suitable combinations:

✅ Hydrosols and toners (e.g., rose water)

✅ Hyaluronic acid

✅ Gentle enzyme peels

✅ Night creams with lower content of active ingredients

Unsuitable combinations:

❌ Retinol (if you don't have experience – it may cause irritation)

❌ Oils with a heavier consistency (e.g., coconut oil – can clog pores)

❌ AHA/BHA acids – when combined with oil, they can irritate the skin

Less is more

Prickly pear oil is extremely concentrated – unlike regular creams or serum blends, you only need a few drops. Try incorporating it into your routine gradually – start with once a day and monitor how your skin reacts.

The result? More supple, radiant, and healthier skin – without silicones, parabens, or unnecessary chemicals.
